In a party, drinks are as important as the food you serve. My introduction to alcohol started with whiskey. Soon after I realized that I liked a glass of wine with my food. I started reading up a lot about wines and never missed any opportunity to taste wine, be it a winery or restaurant tasting flights. As a result when I would host parties, I would keep different types of wines, one kind of beer and a partial bar.As I started hosting more and more parties, I realized that serving many types of beverages is not always a feasible option. You constantly need somebody to serve the drinks. People are sometimes confused and they do not always know what drink to pair with their food. And it is also expensive. It is much easier however to make one or two signature cocktails in a large quantities. I usually like to garnish the first cocktail with something substantial like a thick slice of cheese. So the guests have something to nibble on till they get to the appetizers. You can hand out a drink as guests come in and then they can help themselves as and when they please. In addition to the signature cocktail, you can serve one type of wine or beer.My friends really seemed to enjoy the cocktails at my parties. So I started making them a lot. Cocktails lend themselves to a lot of experimentation. So I started playing around with different liquors and later with a variety of spices and herbs, hence the name gourmet cocktails. In this book I will be sharing with you, ten of my favorite cocktails made with variety of liquors, juices and herbs. So you are sure to find something for any occasion.
